Nintendo Wii Console Sales go from Strength to Strength

Back in 2005 when Nintendo unveiled the the Nintendo Wii Console and the Wii remote, nobody could really figure out the sort of success the console would have. With a completely different interface from what anyone in the industry had ever even, there didn’t seem that much support for the machine.

Well since then the Nintendo Wii Console has defied almost every gamer and analyst expectation and continued sell, even without much initial compelling content. Sales off the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 however have struggled to attract more than the standard early adopters thanks to their high prices. The Wii has benefited from the much lower $250 price tag and an interface that doesn’t scare off none techies.

Things just got even better for Nintendo, as in mid-July it was announced that 3 million units have been sold in Japan, outselling the PS3 by 3 to 1. Further information on the latest Wii sales can be found at Nintendo Wii games console.

The numbers don’t show any reason to expect a change in 2007. In fact, with Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros, Nintendo will start pulling in the on-the-fence Nintendo fans who didn’t buy into the whole Wii thing at first. Combine that with the release of Wii Fit, destined to be the core of the mainstream media for the next year, and no one else has a chance. Xbox 360 and PS3 have great lineups for the holiday period of 2007, but there’s no stopping Wii at the moment
