WoW Paladin Class Guide
Learn 3 unique play styles for the Paladin class in this World of Warcraft Paladin guide.
The Paladin can fill three main roles. They are the roles of healer, tank, and DPS. Try to be better at just one role, based on your preferred play style, because trying to do them all will lead to you being good at non of them. If you really like one play style over another then it may be best just to specialize in one role.
The time to choose which talent build you want will come after you’ve leveled to 10. The three main talent builds we’ll look at in this Warcraft Paladin guide are the Tankadin, Healadin, and Retadin. But in case you need to fill a role other than your primary one, make sure you have some talent and gear for all the roles.

Tankadin- Tank Paladin
Tankadins are the tanks in a group. Tankadins’ get their threat from being able to cause Holy Damage and from being hit. Unlike other tanks, Tankadins are worse at taking slow hits but better at taking fast hits.
The Tankadin build has 2 main challenges; one, the abilities have a short time and second you need to manage them really well.
Retadin- Retribution Paladin
Retadins are the build of choice for PvP. Managing your gear is one of the most challenging things you face here. Managing your gear is really important to how effective you are.
Its important not to use your potions or auras too soon and don’t engage in multi combat when playing the Retadin. Also avoid the fast but low damage weapons and opt for the ones that cause the most damage.
Healadin- The Healer
If you like playing more of a support role in a group then this is a good build for you. The Healadin is the healer role. Healadins, unlike other healers, can take a beating in battle and still heal. Make sure you know who to heal first since the heal do take varying amounts of time. In a normal 5 man instance the tank will be your priority. After the tank usually the priority would be the AOE DPS, DPS and so on.
Here are heals you have:
- Holy Shock- This is an Instant heal but it has a high mana cost and takes a long to cool down.
- Flash of Light- Its Fast, but doesn’t heal very much.
- Holy Light- This takes a little longer than Flash of Light but heals better.
- Lay of Hands- Varies in time and healing
