Priest – Light and Shadow

The Priest class is considered to be one of the best healing classes in the World of Warcraft. It must be said however, that priests can also dish out a lot of damage. When you decide to play with the priest class you can choose between several races. If you want to play a priest on the Horde side you will be able to choose between the following races: Undead, Trolls and Blood Elves. On the Alliance side you can pick either a Dwarf, Human, Draenei or Night Elf priest. All races have their own racial abilities so besides the looks you should also look into these when you want to make your priest.

Priests use mana to cast both their offensive and healing spells and in order to be efficient at what they do they need to generate mana so a lot of spirit is needed, intellect is needed to give them a mana pool and spell power is needed to make their spells more powerful. The priest has three talent trees and depending on what kind of priest you want to make you can choose between the Shadow, Discipline and Holy talent trees. The  Holy talent tree is used for players that want to heal in PvE scenarios. When you choose to be a Holy Priest you can almost forget about dealing damage but you will however become an awesome healer for single and multiple targets with several spells like Circle of Healing. Guardian Spirit, Prayer of Healing, Flash and Greater heals, Renew and more. Shadow is the talent tree that gives the priest the ability to take on a Shadow Form and dish out a lot of damage.

Shadow Priests have several damage over time spells like Devouring Plague and Shadow Word Pain which are very effective. Some of the spells the Shadow talent tree will provide the priest with make the priest a valuable team member for every group and raid because they restore mana and hitpoints to fellow players. Priests who are more into the PvP game play will definitely choose the Discipline tree. Combined with healing and protective spells and gear with more resilience they will surely be unbeatable in the battlegrounds or in arenas.

riests have some of the strongest buffs in the game namely their Stamina, Spirit and Shadow Protection buff. Next to this they also have many other useful spells like fear, resurrect, shackle, dispel, cure disease and more. Threat plays an important role in WoW and luckily the Priests can fade when they get a bit too much agro to reduce their threat. When it comes to the armor, Priests are purely cloth wearers which means that their armor is solely made from cloth. Priests have a lot of mana and do not have a lot of hitpoints because they are not meant to take a lot of hits. If you decide to become a Shadow priest you will have to have particular stats on your gear. You will want to get a lot spell power, hit and crit rating, intellect and spirit on your gear.

The same thing actually goes for healing priests but they do not need hit rating and could get some haste rating instead. The most annoying part of a priest is leveling it even though the Shadow talent tree makes it a bit easier. As you hit level 40 and get Shadow Form it will be a lot easier though and once you hit the level cap you can count on many dungeon and raid spots as either a healer or damage dealer.
