Rogue – From The Shadows
Rogues can be chosen by players as their character in the World of Warcraft. While wielding melee weapons a Rogue can deal massive amounts of damage with special attacks and other moves. A Rogue has to spend Energy in order to make these attacks. The Rogue has an Energy bar under his hit points bar which keeps track of the amount of Energy the Rogue has at the moment. A Rogue can have a maximum of 100 Energy even though there is a talent which increases this.
A Rogue can be chosen by Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf and Human players from the Alliance side and by Troll, Orc, Undead and Blood Elf players of the Horde side. A Rogue is commonly known for his skills to ‘gank’ other players, which basically means killing players of the other factions on either the battlegrounds or in the arena’s or in PvP areas. Most of the times the Rogues have the advantage of surprise attacks because they are able to stealth. When they are in stealth they have several abilities available to them and once they make an attack they get out of stealth and have even more abilities to do loads of damage. The majority of the attacks the Rogues can make award them with combo points. A total of 5 combo points can be applied on a target. The combo points have use because the Rogue also has finishing moves that are stronger if more combo points are applied on the target. If you have 5 combo points on a target you will deal more damage or stun longer in example, than when a target only has one combo point on it.
Let it be clear that Rogues can’t heal and can’t tank. They are designed to do loads of damage though. If you want to be one of the major damage dealers in your guild it is possible. In this case it means knowing all your attacks and when to use which ones, knowing the talent trees by heart and knowing which ones to choose, which stats you should have on your gear etc. You should know which talent tree is made with what purpose and which talent points you can avoid and which should definitely be taken. The three talent trees are called combat, assassination, and subtlety. For more information on WoW class guides, read our review: Warcraft Pros Review
If you are leveling a Rogue you should choose the Combat talent tree. You will become harder to kill and will also be able to do more damage through attacks like Ghost Strike. Because the Rogue will get more Parry and Dodge rating he will lose less health and because it also boost the offhand damage and crit and hit rating leveling becomes much easier.
Once you hit your level cap you and want to play PvE, the Assasination tree is great for you. The Assassination tree specializes in Backstab and other powerful attacks. For those of you who like to play PvE it is a great build that especially focuses on the Backstab attack. Most talents are based on attacking from behind which makes it less good for soloing.
If you have a tank that turns the mob away from you however, you can dish out crazy amounts of damage. If you like to play PvP you should try out the Subtlety talent tree. Because you will become quite tough, harder to detect while stealthed and be able to do nice amounts of damage in a short period of time, this build is nice against enemy players. If you play PvE you want to do more damage over time so Subtlety is less useful there.
