WoW pets - Which are the best?

While making a choice of the pet you will be using you have to consider which type of content you will be running and with what spec. PVP Content

There are three categories of PVP content in game at the moment, arena, battlegrounds and world pvp; with first two being the most interesting and popular. Hunter’s utilities make them an excellent class for PvP. Hunters play style will depend on his spec but in the end it all breaks down to who will gain control of the fight, and to do so you will have to keep your enemies in check. Hunter is very dangerous when he has range from his target but rather weak when in your melee range. Keeping distance from their enemies is a must for all hunters.

With all the utilities and abilities hunters have it is rather easy to do so but when you are fighting more than one person that can be quite a problem. Most common spec for PvP hunters is definitely survival due to high amount of burst damage and survivability, MM or marksmanship is somewhat not so common spec as it offers less survivability followed by beast mastery in third place. Question is, which hunter pet will help me to keep control over my enemies? Answer is, usually Crab and Spider, and those are the most common used pets in arenas and battlegrounds. Every hunter needs to know how to properly kite his targets otherwise he won’t be able to defeat his enemy.

Spiders

Spiders are cunning pets and the reason why they are being used so often is their unique ability called web:  encases the target into sticky web, preventing them from moving for four seconds. Web ability has a rather short cool down of 40 seconds and if you use it properly with the rest of your abilities it will be more than enough to always keep a distance from your target. Web is not dispelable and only way to remove them is with abilities like hand of freedom from paladin. The week point of them is that they will not produce a lot of damage like ferocity pets or have survivability of tenacity pets. They are also easy to feed as their diet is meat! Crab pets for PvP

Crabs are also very popular for PvP for their pin effect which makes targets immobilized but the down part is that the effect is dispellable. On the other hand, crabs are tenacity pets and are harder to kill than spiders.

PVE

Raiding is most popular and fun aspect of PvE content. Hunter is a pure dps class and doing maximum dps in raids is their job. Most common specs are marksmanship and survival where beast mastery is not viable raiding spec due to very low dps compared to other hunter specs. Looking at the hunter’s role in raids, picking pet is quite easy as ferocity pets will produce maximum amount of dps. Now the question comes down to which of the ferocity pets is the best, and once again question is simple to answer: wolf! Wolf’s Furious howl gives you 320 attack power with 50% uptime and it is a very nice boost to your dps. Ferocity tree will provide additional damage boosts alongside survivability to make sure your pet will stay alive during any encounter.
