Renting vs Buying: a Great Way to Save Money and Have Fun

 

They say that you can’t buy happiness - but is it possible to rent it? In this article, John Hinkle explains the game renting business. Modelled after the very successful online-movie renting business pioneered by Netflix, it’s hard to beat the convenience of having games arrive at your doorstep when you want them, and how often you want them. Is renting better than buying? A typical game has a very definitive - and sometimes short-lived - “play time,” or the amount of time that it takes to play through the game from beginning to end. Sometimes this can be as long as 40 hours; sometimes it can be as short as 6 hours. However, once played, it usually just ends up collecting dust on a shelf, until obsolences finally claims it and it ends up in a garage sale or the trash bin. I’ll let John tell you more about how to avoid that shelf-clutter and save a bit of money, too.

Men are notoriously hard to shop for when it comes to the gift-giving season. After all, there is only room for so much cologne or so many tools in any one given chest. Thank goodness the computer revolution has arrived to give us: The Computer Game! It’s fun. It’s techy. It’s manly. It’s easily available, and it’s affordable on most budgets. A good game will keep your typical guy occupied for a good 20 to 40 hours. Plus, with that boxy shape, they’re quite easy to wrap. Good Article for Parents: Tips to Know Before Buying a Video Game

 

I personally love getting a great game as a gift. It’s more fun and interactive than TV; I can play it when the weather is at its worst; I can get a party together and play it in groups for some social activity; and I can play it (quietly, with headphones) when nobody else is awake and I can’t sleep. If you have somebody on your gift-giving list who would love this on their birthday or during the gift-giving seasons, then there are a few things you should know before laying down the cash and making that purchase. Not every game is created equal, and not every store is created equal. I’ll let Vinay Choubey and Sandeep Kumar explain.
