A Job in Online Promotion is an opportunity for many who would probably rule themselves out
For a role in Online Marketing or search engine optimization most people would believe that they would need expertise in IT, web building and may be even coding but in actual fact someone with just reasonable computing skills could actually be very successful in such a role with a totally different set of skills.
Because of the perceived education required in the role most people wanting to alter their career or get back to work following redundancy would not even consider this kind of role when in actual fact they may well be wholly placed to take it on.
The idea of Online Marketing is to help clients increase the new business received from their websites. This normally translates to more sales via the website or more interest or “leads” from the site, which are then converted into sales by the company. The aim of the SEO Company is therefore to ensure that the clients website appears on page one of the search engine results for filling and relevant “keywords” entered into the search engine by a prospective customer.
Yes, there is a small proportion of work that is often required on the website itself but most of the role is made up of interaction with your customer. First of all you will need to comprehend the products or services offered by the client. This will generally involve research into the industry and discussions with them. Secondly you will need to appreciate what type of customers need those products or services. The client should be able to provide a lot of this knowledge but it may involve research too. Thirdly you will need to understand how web searchers who are looking for these products or services actually describe them when using the net. Once these “keywords” have been established promotion of the site can start.
Typically businesses have looked to their web designers or their IT team to supply this service but the skills needed to fully optimize a website are not generally the ones developed in the role of a web designer and although they would hopefully make an attempt at good Search Engine Placement they can seldom provide the whole package.
So whilst it may not originally be thought if as an option for a wider amount of people, this role has the ability to provide a profitable, flexible and satisfying career to many people from many different working backgrounds. There are a few quality training courses now existing at reasonable costs and they can be used by businesses training in house staff or by individuals looking to vary their career and find a new career in an upcoming industry.
