Jobs Vacancies And Preparing For Your Interview
The second step in getting the job is meeting the potential employer for an interview. Prior to this you should have written a CV and sent it off to potential employers.
An employer will come into contact with a CV through a number of channels, the jobs vacancies may have been advertised on a website, a head hunter was used or the applicant sent it directly to them.
The following tips will help you when you have a job interview.;
Do some research on the company beforehand so that you are able to answer questions on development and ethos.
You might like to think about questions that you will be asked, which can be found on job websites, and have a friend or family member practise your responses.
When you go for an interview, it is best to always arrive 10 to 15 minutes ahead of time as this shows employers that the person is punctual and serves as a good attribute in a potential employee, but don’t be too early.
Your CV will be the main piece of information that the interviewer has about you so take a copy along with you so you can answer any specific questions. A good example is architects and photographers who are professionals in the respective fields who have a portfolio of the works done which may impress the interviewer.
It is always best to dress appropriately. If you turn up in a casual outfit you are not showing the employer that you really want the job. Even small things like your fingernails and hair should be kept groomed. Be professional with a suit if you have one or very smart clothing if you do not. Do not try to make a fashion statement by wearing bright colours or very high shoes. Do not put on too much jewellery either.
You need to start your interview off in a positive manner so give a warm smile and firm handshake to your interviewer.
listen to the questions you are asked carefully so you can answer well. make sure you do not lie but be confident with your skills and experience so you present the best of yourself.
End the interview with a thank you and say you hope to hear from them shortly.
